What are ID1 and ID5 forms?
When you are involved in a property transaction, the Land Registry may require you to complete an ID1 or ID5 form to confirm your identity before they will register the transaction.
- ID1 form – for individuals who need their identity confirmed in connection with a Land Registry application (for example, transfer, transfer of equity, registration of a mortgage).
- ID5 form – a digital / remote version of the ID1 identity check, carried out over a secure video call, instead of attending in person.
The Land Registry requires these forms to be completed and signed by a regulated professional such as a solicitor.

Before the meeting, we will ask you to email:- A copy of your photo ID (passport or photocard driving licence)
- Proof of address (recent utility bill or bank statement)
- A copy of the ID1 / ID5 form or the Land Registry/solicitor’s instructions
- Video call with the solicitor (ID5 check)
At the appointment, we:- Check your original ID documents over live video
- Confirm your identity and details for the form
- Ask any questions needed to satisfy the Land Registry requirements
- We complete and sign the form
After the meeting, we will:- Complete and sign the ID1 / ID5 as appropriate
- Return the signed form to you (or directly to your conveyancer, if requested)

- Valid passport or photocard driving licence
- Recent proof of address (e.g. bank statement/utility bill)
- The ID1 / ID5 form (if already provided to you)
- Any Land Registry or solicitor’s letter asking for the identity check
